Results of the Diocesan and Parish Listening Process
Yes, you will recall taking part in the Research Project in the Murroe/ Boher Parish under Fr. Martin Hayes late 2017 and throughout 2018 in the remainder of the diocese. The future of the church at parish and diocesan levels was the subject of the study. The results are published and ready for discussion in our parish. However, due to the advent of exams and the holiday season, the first meeting to do this will take place on Monday 9th September in Muintir Na Tíre Hall, Murroe at 7.30 p.m. This is the preliminary announcement. Further reminders will follow throughout the month of August. We are now witnessing an era of rapid change concerning matters of faith and pastoral administration taking place during a period of unprecedented societal change at home and abroad. Your interest in and attention to this ground-breaking research will be much appreciated. Please feel free to talk to Fr. Loughlin Brennan P.P. for any further information you need. Your parish needs your participation.

There will be generous cash prizes each month with a bonus draw at the end for all participants who have paid the total contribution of €100. Reflection: We all pray to Jesus at some time or other! This is what we have been taught and shown since we were children. This is an ancient tradition and a very important thing to do. However, in the gospel this Sunday, Jesus prays for each of us! Jesus prays for those in the gospel and us today with these profound words:
‘Holy Father, I pray not only for these, but for those also who through the words will believe in me. May they be one, may they be one in us as you are in me and I am in you so that the world may believe it was you who sent me.’
This prayer is about several things. It is about the friends of Jesus and their mission. Jesus prays not only for them but also for all those who will hear the good news through them. This also applies to each of us today. As followers of Jesus today, he prays for us as we try our best to tell others about him through the quality of our daily lives.

Reflection: We are all very aware of the phrase, ‘people in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.’ The gospel this Sunday is usually called the Woman caught in adultery. The religious leaders – the Pharisees – drag a woman into the market place and throw her to the ground. They say that she is sinner and deserves to be stoned to death publicly. Jesus, remains calm and looks at these angry self-righteous men. He then says to each of them; ‘if there is one of you who has not sinned, let him throw the first stone at her.’ But they can’t, because they are all sinners too! Jesus treats her with respect and dignity; he lifts and raises her up at all levels. He doesn’t condemn, judge or criticise her; but he does challenge her not to sin again. Jesus treats us the same way he treats the men and this woman; he doesn’t condemn, dismiss or judge us when we sin; but he does forgive and challenge us not to do it again. As in all things, Jesus offers us an example that we are to follow; we are called to love others, not judge or condemn them.
