Team Limerick Cleanup 4 will be taking place this Friday, Good Friday, from 9.30am to 12.30pm. People from all over Limerick will take part in this great event, including Murroe. The Murroe Clean-Up HQ will be at the Murroe Community Hall. Some registered packs have still to be collected from the hall and this can be done on the morning of the clean up.  If anyone need materials, e.g. Gloves, bags, signs, hi-vis vests, for the clean up, they will be available in the hall from 9.30am. If anyone has any unused litter-pickers, they would like to return, please drop them back to the Murroe Hall on the day. Tea/coffee will be available in the community hall from 11.00am. Please do come along for a well-deserved cup of tea. All bags of rubbish collected should be returned to the Murroe Community hall for collection by Mr. Binman. We look forward to seeing you on Friday at Murroe HQ. Thank you.

Murroe Boher Historical Society will present this illustrated talk looking at early Irish Christianity on Thursday 15th of March in the Muintir Na Tire Hall Murroe Co Limerick at 8.30. Alf Monaghan’s illustrated talk looks at the history of early Irish Christianity from a different perspective – a Mediterranean perspective. It provides a tantalizing glimpse under the veil of history. It asks many questions and confounds some of the accepted theories about the history of early Christianity in Ireland. Recent Irish discoveries such as the Fadden More Psalter, an Egyptian papyrus found in an ancient book of psalms from a Tipperary bog, are clues pointing to a more substantial eastern Mediterranean influence. It traces links with ancient Egypt, connects Irish monasticism with the desert fathers and the early Irish Church with the Coptic Church. All are welcome

However it has been associated with the largest landed families in County Limerick: the Bourkes, Standish O’Gradys and the Lloyds. John will look at the earliest land records, maps and photos associated with the house and townland of Ballyvorheen from before the Cromwellian settlement, right up the foundation of the Free State in the 20th Century.
