Murroe Boher Bord na nOg would like to thank everyone who helped out and supported our recent bag pack. We had over 100 volunteers, who gave up their time to support this much needed fundraiser. We would also like to wish all of our members, their families, friends and neighbours a Happy Christmas and a prosperous new year.

Murroe AFC Notes: Milford Hospice Fundraising Match: The now annual charity match on St Stephen’s day will be going ahead as a fundraiser for Milford Hospice. Open to all, managers, adult players etc, €10 per player, a bit of fun to work off the turkey and in aid of a worthy charity. Should be on around 11am, (that’ll be confirmed on the Facebook page though so keep an eye on it for details). The club secretary has volunteered to referee so that should be an improvement on lasts years hysterics! Murroe AFC’s book “Murroe AFC The First 50 Years 1968-2018”is still available to purchase at Spar, and English’s. The book is a fabulous record of the story of the first 50 years of soccer in Murroe and is available at a price of €15. A great stocking filler!

Boher Community Development Association thanks everybody who supported their Christmas Market last Sunday. It was a great success. Artists, crafts people and culinary experts, displayed their work to our visitors. Santa and Mrs Claus arrived by carriage and two white horses to everybody’s delight. Santa’s grotto had to be the best in the country!

2019 Calendar: Boher Community Development Association’s 2019 Calendar includes a delightful selection of old and recent photographs reflecting the lives and achievements of the people of Boher and places of interest. The back of the calendar features some Boher-related snippets from old newspapers and journals. Cost €5.  Available from shops and bars in Murroe and Boher. On Sunday next, 23 December, this Calendar will be on sale following 10am Mass, outside Boher Church.

Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: JUNIOR TEAM: Murroe/Boher Camogie Club will be entering a junior team along with our intermediate team for the 2019 season. Registration for the junior team will take place in Murroe Clubhouse on January 11th at 7pm. Players of all ages and abilities are encouraged to come along. Whether you are looking to try out the sport to stay fit or you are dusting off your boots and helmet please get in touch. If you can’t attend the registration night be sure to contact our Facebook page to express your interest or contact Fiona O’Malley (0863017002).

Murroe-Boher Community Games: The art, model-making and handwriting will be held on Saturday, the 5th of January at 11:30am, in Muintir na Tire hall, Murroe.  Art – Boys and Girls U8 over 6, U10 over 8, U12 over 10, U14 over 12, U16 over 14.  Model-making – Boys and Girls U10, U12, U14, U16.  Handwriting – Boys and Girls U10, U12.  €2 entry to go towards paper, card, medals and modelling clay.  Children to bring their own pencils and colours please.  Looking forward to seeing you on the day.

Murroe AFC Notes: Team News: The men’s teams didn’t have any fixtures last weekend, (We’re sure they all took advantage of the week off to do some Christmas shopping!) All attention was on the U-13 Boys then who won their league after a fine 3-0 triumph over Galbally with goals from Joe Shanahan, David Moloney, and Billy Twomey, and a penalty save from Jamie Kirby. They are now promoted back to the Premier Division for next year! Well done to all the boys on a fantastic season and coach Allen O’Shaughnessy. Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to advise that our Annual Christmas Bag packing is taking place in Dunnes Stores on Childers Road on Sunday 16th December and Wednesday 19th December. Anyone available to help out at this much needed fundraiser, please contact any of the committee to let them know. Our AGM took place on Monday 03rd December, and all officers were returned un opposed.

Murroe AFC Notes: Team News: The A team took on local rivals Cappamore in the League last weekend and came away with a well deserved win on a 2-0 scoreline. Evan Walsh and Liam Quinn with the goals. Well done to the Murroe U-12 Boys who secured the Premier League title last weekend with a fabulous 2-1 win over Charleville. Congrats to Richie Long and the other coaches. Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to advise that our AGM, will take place on Monday 03rd December at 8.00pm in Club Pavilion. Anyone interested in applying for a position on the committee, must do so in writing to the Secretary before Monday 26th November.

Ciara Beirne, from Abington, will present a short talk on the “Hope Foundation” an Irish charity that raises funds for the slum children of Kolkata in India. She will speak at all Masses in Murroe and Boher this weekend. She will be travelling there next April with her school. This Church talk is to try and raise funds for this worthy cause. A collection will be taken up as people leave the Church. Your generosity will be gratefully received.

Congratulations to Murroe Field Project who were awarded 3.8 million from the Rural Regeneration & Development. The funding will provide for the construction of a new community building for Murroe-Boher and the surrounding community. The Community Hall will include sporting facilities, meeting rooms, office space, a community café and an enterprise space. Best wishes for the remainder of the Project.

Ciara Beirne, from Abington, will present a short talk on the “Hope Foundation” an Irish charity that raises funds for the slum children of Kolkata in India. She will speak at all Masses in Murroe and Boher on the weekend of 24th/25th November. She will be travelling there next April with her school. This Church talk is to try and raise funds for this worthy cause. A collection will be taken up as people leave the Church. Your generosity will be gratefully received.

There is something for everyone: Wheel of Fortune, visit Santa in his grotto, coats & handbags stalls, bric-a-brac, cakes, toys, books, games, competitions, children’s entertainment, tea & cake, a signed and framed Limerick Jersey raffled on the day and lots, lots more. All proceeds will go towards the development of the school.

Murroe AFC Notes: Team News: The A team took on Geraldines of the Premier League last weekend in the 4th Round of the FAI Junior Cup and came out on the wrong side of a 4-1 scoreline. Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: Hard luck to our minor camogie team who lost their county semi-final last weekend to a very strong Newcastle West team. This brings an end to the playing season for our club. We want to thank all our players, coaches and supporters over the past year and we look forward to next year and what promises to be another great season for the club. Glenstal Woods Walk in loving memory of Kevin Hayes will take place next Saturday 3rd November at 11.00am. All funds raised will be donated to Heart House, the Mater Foundation. This is a 12k walk on forestry track and minor roadway. Walking boots recommended but may not be necessary depending on weather conditions. Parking in Murroe village and a shuttle service will take people to the start of the walk. Refreshments afterwards in the village hall. Murroe AFC Notes: There was a great trip for the U-12 boys and girls to the Aviva Stadium last weekend, along with a few more older clients. The match wasn’t hectic, but a good day out was had by all. Congratulations to Gráinne Regan who received her Ireland cap from John Delaney at half time in the match.

There will be a National Draw, a Munster draw and all tickets sold locally by Murroe AFC will be entered into a local draw also (similar to the Christmas draw) There is an incredible prize fund including 4 cars 1 for each province, holidays, trips to soccer games, X-Boxes, mobile phones, vouchers, match tickets and many more. In addition to this the club will run a local draw also where all tickets bought for the National/Regional draw will be entered again for a super prize fund. Please support this, our main fundraiser for 2018 Tickets are €10 each with books of 5 for €50. With 4 Cars, trips to Champions league final, IPADS, IPODS, Mobile Phones Weekends away and much much more it is the draw to be in this year. Tickets are available from players and committee members.
