Boher Community Development Association: Boher Christmas Market will take place next Sunday 8th December. Boher Community Development Association will launch its 2020 Parish Calendar at O’Neill’s Bar on Sunday 8th December at 9pm. The calendar includes a delightful selection of old and recent photographs reflecting the lives and achievements of the people of Boher and places of interest. The back of the calendar features some Boher-related snippets from old newspapers and journals. All welcome!

Murroe Boher Camogie: Hard luck to our minor team who lost their county semi final to a strong Templeglantine team. Our thanks to players and management who have given their all this year. This marks the end of our camogie year and we are looking forward to 2020 already!

Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: The A team lost out in a tight affair by 1-0 against Hill Celtic in the league last Sunday, while the B team also went down by a single goal, 1-0 against Corbally Utd, in the league. The C team fought bravely but eventually succumbed on a 6-1 scoreline against Lisnagry. Hopefully there’ll be better results next weekend.  The A Team are at away to neighbours Cappamore in the league on Sunday at 11am, The B team have no fixture, and the C team are at home to Kilmallock in the Open Cup. The Youth U-18 Team are back after a break and face Aisling Annacotty in the FAI Youth Cup in Tubber at 2pm on Sunday. Tickets €5 each or a book of 6 for €25.

The Board of Management of Scoil Mhuire Murroe invites expressions of interest from members of the community who are interested in serving on the Board of Management. Those interested should possess skills complementary to the Board’s skill requirements and be interested in education and its promotion, but not be parents of children attending the school. Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: The A team bowed out of the Munster Junior Cup at the 3rd Round stage last weekend. Losing out on a 3-2 scoreline to Premier League high flyers Geraldines. The B team, obviously still a bit rusty after 8 weeks without a game recently, lost out 6-0 to Cahrconlish in the league, and the C team put up a brave fight but eventually went down 5-2 to Caledonians also in the league. Our Christmas Fair has always proven to be a very enjoyable day out with a huge variety of competitions and entertainment to suit all ages. There is something for everyone: Wheel of Fortune, visit Santa in his grotto, coats & handbags stalls, bric-a-brac, cakes, toys, books, games, competitions, children’s entertainment, tea & cake and lots, lots more. All proceeds will go towards the development of the school.

The Youth U-18 Team had a fine win though in the FAI Youth Cup, winning 4-2 against Corbally Utd. The C teams fixture was postponed due to a bereavement in Shelbourne FC. The Murroe Marian Club (Senior Citizens Group) will hold their annual 45 Drive on Tuesday November 12th at 8pm in the Muintir na Tíre Hall, Murroe. Spot prizes galore. Teas will be served. Tickets 6 euro each

Boher Community Development Association: The fifth and final Silver Circle Draw took place last Sunday morning at Boher Community Centre. Pat O Connell thanked everyone who supported this initiative. It has been an astounding success. At an initial check, we have raised €25k and incurred expenses (approx) of €8,700 (including prize money). These figures will be confirmed at a later date. Again, sincere thank you to everybody who supported us. The following are the results from the fifth and final draw: €1,000. Eoin O’Neill, €300. Michael O’Neill, €200. Thomas and Jim Barry, €50. Denis and Sinead Moore, Willie Walsh, €20. Sean Quirke, Jimmy Hanley, Liam and Brid Lynch, Caroline Hickey, John O’Connor. As this was the final draw, a special draw was held for those who paid €100 in full. €200 was won by Liam and Brid Lynch.

Our AGM will be held on Monday 25th November at 20.30pm in Club Pavilion. Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: On Sunday last The A team had a good win on a 3-1 scoreline over Holycross in the league, while the youth (U-18) team had a fine 5-0 win over Kilfrush in the Munster Youth Cup.

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg, would like to congratulate our Minor team for winning the City/East Minor A championship final last Saturday afternoon in Cappamore, and wish them success in the county semi-final this weekend. Murroe Boher Camogie: Well done to our minor team who won their first game of the championship against Tournafulla last weekend. Next up they will face Adare on October 27th in Adare. Our thanks to everyone who came out on Friday night to support our fund-raising table quiz. It was a great night and a great success, thanks to all our supporters. Next Saturday (26th) we will hold our monthly clothes collection from 7.30 – 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse. All donations greatly appreciated.

Murroe-Boher Historical Society – We are resuming our winter talks on Thursday, October 17th at 8.30 p.m. sharp at the Muintir na Tire Hall, Murroe with Dr. Matthew Potter, who will speak to us on the intriguing topic of “Queen Victoria and Limerick Ham.” Admission €5 to non-members. All welcome.

The Cappamore Historical Society will host a Lecture in the local Community Centre on Friday the 18th of October at 8pm. The lecture is entitled “Improving Policing and Community safety in Ireland.: the work of the O’Toole Commission.”  The lecture will be given by Sinead Ryan former Secretary to the independent Commission on the future of Policing in Ireland. There will be a charge of 5 euro to non-members, and Refreshments will be provided after the lecture.

Boher Community Development Association: Table Quiz – Boher Community Development Association wishes to thank all who supported in every way, their very successful Table Quiz night.  It was a very enjoyable night and €1,500 was raised.  The proceeds will be presented to the Kevin Bell Repatriation Trust in memory of the late Rory Tynan, RIP.  Sincere thanks to Liam, Brid and Denis of Pa McGraths who hosted the event, and Frank Ryan and Johnny Skehan. Murroe Boher Bord na nOg would like to congratulate on u12 hurlers, who won the Shield Final, at the Ahane Tom Blake tournament, last Saturday afternoon. Our Team was captained by Calum Condon, and player of the tournament was our very own Tommie Cusack. We would also like to congratulate our u10s hurlers, who won the Kilmacud Crokes festival of hurling, in UCD, last Sunday, and to William Ryan, who captained the team on the day. Congrats also to our u8’s, who hurled brilliantly at Ahane’s u8 blitz last Saturday morning. We would like to send best wishes to our Minor team, who are playing Caherline on Sunday afternoon at 4.00pm in Cappamore in the City/East final.

Murroe Boher Camogie: COUNTY SEMI FINALS: Our intermediate team will play in the county semi-final on Sunday (29th) at 2pm in Clarina (New Pitch – Turn right at the traffic lights in the village coming from Mungret direction). We hope that all our supporters and members will travel to the game to support our players. Best of luck to players and management. On Saturday (28th) at 6pm our junior team will travel to Kilmallock for their semi-final. Best of luck to the team and management. On Saturday morning our club will host its second U12 tournament in memory of Johnny O’Brien. It will take place in Harty Park from 9am – 1pm. We will be welcoming teams from Newport, Ballina and Cappamore and look forward to a great day of camogie.

TABLE QUIZ: on Friday 18th October we will host our annual fundraising table quiz at 8pm in the Valley Inn, Murroe. A table of four for €20. This event is always a great success and we hope that the members of the community will support our clubs fundraising efforts and test their knowledge at the same time!

Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: On Sunday last the A team came out on top eventually after a penalty shootout in the first round of the Munster Junior Cup against Star Rovers after the scores finished 1-1 after extra time. The Youths (U-18) Team were also in Munster Cup Action last weekend and ended up beating Aisling Annacotty B in the First round of the Munster Youth Cup 1-0 on Sunday. Fixtures: This coming weekend it’s the turn of the FAI Junior Cup to take centre stage. The A team face Charleville away on Saturday evening in the first round of the National Competition at 7pm. On Sunday then the C team take on local rivals Newport Town in Div 3A of the League at 2pm.
