Murroe-Boher Historical Society – As a precautionary measure due to the current Covid-19 outbreak, we are postponing this month’s talk, planned for 19 March, until further notice

Darkness into Light #Dil2020 After much deliberation, Pieta have taken the very difficult decision to postpone Darkness Into Light 2020 until the Autumn. The COVID-19 outbreak that we are currently seeing in Ireland poses an unprecedented challenge to our communities, and the safety and wellbeing of our clients, volunteers, staff and of the general public is at the heart of this decision. The event will proceed later in the year, and we expect to be able announce a new date in the coming weeks.

The loss of income that Pieta will suffer as a result of the postponement of this event is going to pose a significant challenge to the organisation. As you probably know, Darkness Into Light provides almost half of their fundraised income for the year, and without the income from this event they simply cannot continue to provide free, lifesaving services.   Therefore, Murroe DiL committee ask that if you are planning to walk or to make a contribution to Pieta House, please do so on the Murroe Darkness into Light page over the next few weeks.

CFR-Boher update:  For all emergencies you should contact 112 or 999.  As CFR services are being curtailed due to social distance, the CFR-Boher AED will be available for public use should the need arise.  For the foreseeable future, please contact Ita Richardson at 087-6886536 if you require to use the AED in an emergency. This is effective immediately until further notice.

Murroe AFC Team News: Last weekend the B team were unlucky to come out of a tight contest with Janesboro losing out 2-0 in the end, while the C team went down 3-1 in their league match away to Athlunkard Villa.

There won’t be any training or fixtures for Adult or underage teams for the foreseeable future, until at least after the 29th March deadline currently in place, following on from the directive issued by the Government and the FAI. Remember clean hands save lives people so keep em washed!

If anyone in the community has to isolate themselves for a while and is stuck for something and doesn’t know who to ask for help at any stage, message the Murroe AFC Facebook page and we’ll see what we can do to sort you out.

Keep an eye on the club Facebook page and Twitter feeds for news of the eventual resumption of fixtures. Stay safe and keep the paws clean!

Please check Murroe Facebook Page for up to-date information on closures etc.
