St Vincent de Paul Annual Collection: St Ailbe’s Conference SVP wish to thank most sincerely all those who contributed to the recent Church gate Collection. €1645 was collected. This money will be used to help our neighbours in need this Christmas and throughout the year. Loop System: The Loop System is now in operation in Murroe Church. This will facility anyone attending the Church, who uses a hearing aid, to hear Mass etc without interference. The cost of the system in Murroe is €2583. If people would like to make a donation towards this cost, we would be extremely grateful. Many thanks to those who have already made donations.

Boher Community Development Association: Boher Christmas Market, will take place this Sunday 9th December.  Savour the atmosphere and buy beautiful Christmas gifts from a wide selection of arts, crafts, baking, needlecraft, woodwork etc.  Santa and Mrs Claus will arrive at 2pm where you can join them in their new spectacular grotto.  Don’t miss this event!

Boher Community Development Association launched its 2019 Parish Calendar last week at O’Neill’s Bar.  The calendar includes a delightful selection of old and recent photographs reflecting the lives and achievements of the people of Boher and places of interest. The back of the calendar features some Boher-related snippets from old newspapers and journals.   Cost €5.  Available from shops and bars in Murroe and Boher.

Murroe-Boher Historical Society will host a talk by Dr. Gerard Curtin on the topic of “Small Nucleated Settlements in County Limerick, 1840 – 1920,” on Thursday, 13th December at 8.30 p.m. sharp at the Muintir na Tire Hall, Murroe (Eircode: V94 N740). Admission to non-member €5 (including refreshments).

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to advise that our Annual Christmas Bag packing is taking place in Dunnes Stores on Childers Road on Sunday 16th December and Wednesday 19th December. Anyone available to help out at this much needed fundraiser, please contact any of the committee to let them know. Our AGM took place on Monday 03rd December, and all officers were returned un opposed.

Murroe AFC Notes: Team News: The A team took on local rivals Cappamore in the League last weekend and came away with a well deserved win on a 2-0 scoreline. Evan Walsh and Liam Quinn with the goals. The B team fixture against Meanus was called off. Check out our Facebook page for the latest fixtures and results. Well done to the Murroe U-12 Boys who secured the Premier League title last weekend with a fabulous 2-1 win over Charleville. Congrats to Richie Long and the other coaches. The future certainly looks bright with this gang of lads! Murroe AFC’s book “Murroe AFC The First 50 Years 1968-2018”is still available to purchase at Spar, and English’s. The book is a fabulous record of the story of the first 50 years of soccer in Murroe and is available at a price of €15. A great stocking filler!
