Ever wanted to learn how to paint or take up a new hobby? Art classes resuming Thursday 23rd of February in Muintir na tire hall, Murroe from 7-9. €15 euro, some materials will be supplied but please bring your own brushes and acrylic paints (or oils if you have previous experience with them). Killinure N.S. Table Quiz: Killinure N.S. Parents’ Council presents a Social Night with a Table Quiz for Parents and Friends of Killinure on Friday, March 10, at 9 pm in Crokers Pub, Murroe. Each table will cost €20-00 per table of 4 with a raffle on the night and prizes for the winning team. The Parents’ Council wish to welcome all to this fun night and would greatly appreciate as much support as possible for the school.

Many thanks to all who supported the collection in aid of St Vincent’s Lisnagry last weekend. To those who stood at the tables in the cold and the wind – thank you. The amount collected in Murroe was €685.

Murroe/Boher Lourdes Committee are offering a place to a 5th year student to travel to Lourdes on this year’s pilgrimage as a youth helper, which takes place from 16th to 21st June. Anyone interested are asked to give their names to Liz Barron, Boher ASAP. Draw will take place after 11.30am Mass in Murroe on Sunday next 25th February.

Field Project Update: The Field Project is progressing well. We are now close to going for tender for the Astro Turf Pitch. It is planned to build both the Astro pitch and the walking track together. It is hoped that we will have contractors on site at the beginning of May and have this stage of the project completed in August.

Glenstal Abbey Retreat Day: Ageing Well Saturday 4th March. As we all live longer, can we age well? This workshop will reflect on the challenges of ageing. It will consider the need for a ritual of transition and whether there are spiritual practices suited to this stage of life. Murroe-Boher Community Games: Murroe-Boher Community Games:  The U13 Boys Murroe-Boher indoor soccer team claimed silver medals in Galvone last week.  The boys played Caherdavin in semi-final & despite being two goals down at halftime, they turned it around to lead 3-2 midway through the 2nd half but then lost a player and had to play on with 4 for last 9 mins but showed great courage to win 5-4 in a thriller. In the final they played a strong Cappagh team and although ahead at the break, they unfortunately lost 5-4 in another nail bitter.  A terrific effort from all the boys with all outfield players on the goal trail led by super performance & goals from captain Nathan O’Shea. The other goal scores Jeffrey O’Rourke, Mikey Walsh, James Judge, David Moloney & Joe Shanahan. The overall player of the tournament was awarded to Murroe-Boher’s fantastic goalkeeper Jamie Kirby. Some outstanding saves – well done to Jamie & his teammates.

Murroe AFC: Soccer Sisters is an FAI programme, the aim of which is to introduce girls aged 7-12 to soccer. The programme will run in Murroe AFC for 6 weeks on Saturdays from 9-10am, commencing on Sat, 11 Feb and will be run by Barry McGann, FAI Development Officer. The program is free of charge. All participants will receive a Soccer Sisters jersey. Only equipment required is shin guards and sports shoes! The only thing parents are asked to do is to register players online at www.fai.ie/ssclubprog. All girls aged 7-12 are more than welcome to join us.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: This weekend sees the intercounty camogie season kick off with 3 of our girls in action in 2 games. The Limerick senior team, with Niamh Richardson, play Meath at 2pm in Rathkeale on Saturday (18th) in the first round of the league. On Sunday (19th) Edel Cunningham and Katie Heelan take on Kilkenny in the first round of the All Ireland Championship with the Limerick minors in Kilkenny at 2pm. Next Saturday the Limerick minor team will again line out against Clare in Clare. Best of luck to our girls and to the teams. Please support our girls!
