Book Launch: Miriam O’Callaghan will launch a new book “I Am Free” by local girl Patricia Ingle in O’Mahony’s Bookshop Limerick on Monday September 5th at 5pm.

 

Boher Parish Calendar 2017: Boher Parish Calendar project team will be producing a parish calendar again for 2017. All members of the community are invited to submit photos for consideration. Old or modern photos will be accepted and can be related to a number of topics: historical interest, landscape, parish events, etc. Photos can be given to any of the Community Development Association members. Photos will be scanned/copied and originals will be returned within 5 days. Closing date for receipt of photos is Sunday 4 September.

 

Cappamore Historical Society will host a lecture on Ned Daly of limerick who fought in The Four Courts in 1916 and was executed for his part in the Rising, by Liam Erwin, former History lecturer in Mary Immaculate Limerick on Monday, August 22nd in Cappamore Community Centre at 7.30 pm. On Tuesday August 23rd The Society will hold an event to commemorate the 1916 Rising. This will include the unveiling of a hand forged sculpture designed and crafted by Eric O’Neill. The event will be held in the local library and will start at 7.30.

 

LCFE Cappamore Campus are now enrolling for full time PLC, QQI Level 5 courses in Childcare, Healthcare, Nursing Studies, Animal Care, Construction, Business and Blacksmith. Murroe 5k Race/Walk will be held on Saturday 27th August at 11am.  As usual the route will include Glenstal Abbey grounds, starting at Murroe Muintir na Tíre Hall and finishing at Glenstal front gate.  Families and walkers are very welcome to participate.  We are adding an U13 (on the day) category to the Road Race.  Children can enter with their Family, paying Family price or for €4 (pre-register) / €5 (on the day). Cliona’s Foundation 9th Annual Cycle will take place on Sat 27th Aug next at Bruff Rugby Club, Kilballyown, Bruff, Co. Limerick. Again there are three routes – 90 k (over 18’s); 40k and 10k which will be the first off at 9:45 am. Registration from 8:30 am, adults €20, child €5 and family €30. Murroe Boher Camogie: With the inter county seasons finished, it’s time to concentrate on the club scene. Fixtures are kicking into action this week with our U13, U14, U16 and intermediate teams all in action. The U14 team take to the pitch against neighbours Doon on Tuesday (23rd) at 6.30pm in Doon. The U13s take on Kilmallock in Kilmallock on Thursday (25th) at 7pm. On Friday (26th) the U16 team who won the league in style line out in their first round of championship against Bruff in Boher at 6.30pm. Our intermediate team look to continue their winning ways against Ballybrown on Sunday (28th) at 6.30pm in Boher. Please get out to support our girls as championship season gets into full flow.

 

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to invite everyone to our upcoming tournaments. On Sunday 21st August, we are hosting our annual Jim Commons tournament at 16.00 in Harty Park, Murroe. This is an u10 Hurling tournament, with teams from Tipperary, Cork and Limerick. A BBQ will be served, so come out and support our young hurlers. On Saturday, 27th August, we are hosting our Ryan Cusack tournament, at 13.30 in Harty Park, Murroe. This is an u13 Hurling tournament, with teams from Limerick and Tipperary taking part, again a BBQ, will be served, all support welcome.

 

Murroe AFC: Registration for all underage girls (u16 down to u8s) will take place on Friday 26th August in the club house at 8pm, we look forward to welcoming all players back, all new players are also welcome. Murroe Boher Ladies Gaelic Football: Congratulations to Limerick u17 Girls Gaelic Footballers who for the first time won out the All-Ireland blitz in Portmarnock Dublin earlier this week. Well done to Anna Madigan from our club who played her part in the win where Limerick beat teams from Offaly, Cork, Carlow, Mayo, Galway and Armagh in the final. This was a major achievement to bring All Ireland glory back to Limerick again.
