Coffee Morning for Cancer Research held on 6th May at Madaboy was a great success enjoyed by all who came.  There was great chat, mountains of delicious cakes and above all wonderful entertainment from the Yukealadies led by Sinead Dinneen.  A huge thanks to her and her fellow musicians, Denise, Rachel and Susan.  Indeed a huge thanks to all those who brought the delicious home-baked goodies, those who helped with serving it all and to everyone who came and gave so generously, in spite of other fundraising events.  Our goal was well surpassed and, with a generous donation from Mulcair Credit Union, the event raised €2,270.  This money has been distributed between the charity ‘Breakthrough Cancer Research’ in Cork and ‘The Irish Cancer Society’.

Boher Community Development Association is holding its Annual Charity Cycle on Saturday 3 June, in aid of Cliona’s Foundation in memory of Ciara McCarthy and The Jack and Gill Children’s Foundation, in memory of Rhona Kett Sheridan, commencing at 7pm at Boher Community Centre.  The full cycle loop is 40km for the experienced cyclist, but for the less practiced there are plenty of shortcut routes, which makes it suitable for all fitness levels and ages! There will be refreshments for all participants after the cycle. Entry fee for the cycle is a donation of your choice at registration. Registration for the event will start at 6.15pm. Map route can be viewed on Boher Facebook and www.murroe.net . Killinure National School – on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of Killinure N.S., a get together of past pupils will take place in Pa McGrath’s at 8.30pm on Saturday 10 June 2017, for a sociable chat and reminisce.  Contact Helena Hickey 086 3452931 or Brid Lynch 086 6025016. Annual Parish Fun Day on Sunday 11th June from 1.30pm at the GAA pitch, Boher. Activities will kick off with the children’s fancy dress competition followed by children’s races and novelty races for children and adults. There will also be a number of sideshows. This year we are introducing a “Fittest Family Challenge”! Teams of 4 can enter for the event comprising 2 adults – one male and one female – and two children under 15 years of age. All those who participated in the various events last year thoroughly enjoyed themselves and hopefully even more people will join in the fun this year. All members of our community are most welcome.

Murroe-Boher Community Games:  Well done to everyone who took part in the Sports Day in Glenstal on Sunday, the 21st of May.  We had lots of winners on the day from the Under 5’s to the Under 14’s. The U 12 Madeline Hogg Cup was won by Gemma Ryan and Siobhan Cooke and Oisin Holmes won the Fr Peter Perpetual Shield.  We would like to thank everyone who helped out on the night, it is much appreciated. Thank you to the Credit Union and PJ Holmes at Gala for their kind sponsorship.
