Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Best of luck to our U10 team who travel to their first cluster blitz of the year in Mungret at 10am on Saturday. Mungret is the centre for Limerick camogie on Saturday as they also host the Limerick Camogie county day with challenge games for the U13, 14, 15, 16 and minor teams and a meet and greet with the county senior Munster Championship winning side all kicking off at 11am in Mungret. Best of luck to all our girls who are involved in the various age groups throughout the day – Edel Cunningham & Katie Heelan (minor), Megan Kiely & Hazel Hourigan (U16) and Ciara Oliver (U13). Hard luck to Hazel Hourigan and Megan Kiely who were part of the Limerick U16 team who lost out to Kilkenny in the first round of championship. Well done to our U8s who travelled to Crecora for a fun filled day of camogie in their second cluster blitz. Next weekend sees Hazel and Megan tog for the county U16 team as they travel to Dublin on Sunday for the second round. Best of luck to all our girls!

Murroe-Boher Community Games: There was a fantastic turn-out at the County Athletics Finals in Mungret with great attendance from Murroe-Boher bringing home plenty of medals over the weekend.  The U12s relay came 3rd overall, team of Grace Ross, Clara Noonan, Gemma Ryan, Siobhan Cooke and Ellie O Connor.  The U9 multi event girls came 3rd Kerrie Moroney, Kate O Connor, Aideen Kinsella, Aimee Cusack and Lauren Cusack.  The U9 boys multi event came 4th, Peter Ashe, Cillian Holmes, Joseph O Brien, George Crowe and Rian Horgan.  In the individual girls events Gemma Ryan U12 came 3rd in 600m and Laura Flynn came 4th in the U12 Ball Throw.  Siobhan Cooke U12 100m got through to semi-finals. In the boys individual events Mike Carmody U14 800m, just missed out on a medal sprinting the last 100metres.  Oisín Holmes U12 600 qualified for finals.  Jamie Long U12 100m got through to semi-finals.  Ben Ross U10 100m got through to finals.  Peter Ashe U10 100m got through to semi-finals.  Well done to all those who participated.  A big ‘Thank You’ to Noreen O’ Brien & Greg Ashe for their invaluable help.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Best of luck to Hazel Hourigan and Megan Kiely who will tog out with the county U16 team who play Kilkenny in Ballybrown (New Field) on Sunday (2nd July) at 2.30pm in the first round of the All Ireland Championship. Best of luck girls. Best of luck also to our U8s who travel to Crecora for the second of their cluster blitzes on Saturday (July 1st) at 11am, where they will play games against Ahane, Blackrock/Effin and Crecora. Abington Church’s annual history day will take place on Saturday, June 24, beginning at 2pm. The theme this year is, “John Jebb: The Abington Years (1775 – 1834).” Prior to becoming Bishop of Limerick, John Jebb occupied the position of Rector of Abington from 1810 to 1823, when he earned the respect and affection of Catholics and Protestants alike. Proceedings will begin at 2 p.m. with a talk by David McBurnie and Grainne Keays, reflecting on Bishop Jebb’s time in Abington. After the talk there will be a field trip to Abington cemetery, the site of the old Abington Church, and then on to the scutching mill at nearby Millbank House. At the mill, Dan Dinneen and Thomas Holmes will give short talks on Jebb’s contribution to the flax industry and employment in the area. Finally, the group will adjourn for refreshments to Pa McGrath’s in Boher at approximately 4.30 p.m. Admission to church is free with €6 charge per head at McGraths. All welcome.

Boher Community Development Association: On Sunday, a large crowd attended the GAA pitch in Boher, for the Family Fun Day. It was a tremendous success. The day commenced with a Fancy Dress competition which was followed by a number of races. There were also a number of side shows. The “Fittest Family challenge” proved very popular. All those who participated in the various events thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Sincere thanks to Cpl. Jimmy O’Donnell and Cpl. James Farrell, for organising the “Fittest Family challenge” and John Kennedy, Dunnes Stores for providing refreshments for the participants. The emphasis was on fun and a most enjoyable day was had by all who took part. Sincere thank you to everybody who took part and helped with the event.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Saturday morning saw our U8s host their first blitz of the year, hosting St. Ailbes, Cappamore and Kilmallock with each team playing each other once. Well done to all our girls who showed great skill and determination and a thank you to our coaches and volunteers for helping out on the day. Next weekend our U8s with travel to Ballyagran for the second cluster blitz while our U10s will travel to Ahane. Best of luck to all our girls and coaches.

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to advise of our tournaments taking place on this Sunday June 18th in Harty Park. The first tournament (Reale Memorial Cup) is an u9 tournament, starting at 10.00am, with 2 teams from Murroe Boher, 2 teams from Killmallock and 2 teams from Ballina, Co. Tipperary. This will be followed in the afternoon, by the Rhona Kett Sheridan Memorial Cup, starting at 14.30. We have Kilconieron from Galway, Ballyea from Clare and JK Brackens from Tipperary competing in this u11 hurling tournament. Teas & Coffees with Sandwiches as well as a BBQ will be served throughout the day. We also have face painting and costume characters appearing during the day and much more, please come and support this community family fun day.

Mulcair Men’s Shed Annual General Meeting Monday 12th June 8pm in the Shed, Abington Enterprise Centre.

Thank you to all those who gave so generously to the Church Gate collection in aid of Killinure National School Parents Association at the June Bank Holiday weekend Masses. The total raised was €559.72. This money will go a long way towards helping fund things such as the Book Rental scheme, help subsidise costly bus fees and other such endeavours to directly benefit the children and parents of Killinure National School. On their behalf, we thank you!

Boher Community Development Association: On Saturday evening last, a very large number of cyclists, congregated at Boher Community Centre to participate in our Annual Charity Cycle.  Over 140 cyclists left the community centre on a 40k cycle.  €3k was raised during the event.  This exceeded all expectations.  Boher Community Development Association will make a presentation next month to The Jack & Gill Children’s Foundation, in memory of Rhona Kett Sheridan and Cliona’s Foundation, in memory of Ciara McCarthy.  Sincere thank you to all who participated in the cycle, the Marshals, Stewards, John Kennedy, Dunnes Stores, PJ Fitzgibbon for providing car parking facilities and the ladies committee for providing refreshments after the event.

Boher Community Development Association will hold its Annual Parish Fun Day this Sunday 11th June from 1.30pm at the GAA pitch, Boher. Activities will kick off with the children’s fancy dress competition followed by children’s races and novelty races for children and adults. There will also be a number of sideshows. This year we are introducing a “Fittest Family Challenge”! Teams of 4 can enter for the event comprising 2 adults – one male and one female – and two children under 15 years of age. Murroe Ladies Gaelic Football: We wish Kate Madigan and her Limerick u14 Gaelic football team the very best of luck on Sunday as they take on Armagh in the All Ireland B semifinal. The team with Club coaches Ken Beirne and Marie O’Flynn as part of the management team recently made history by claiming the B Munster title against Waterford. G4M continues with a match v St Pats planned for Tuesday, new players welcome, details on club facebook page.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Over the past week we have hosted a very successful Hurl Smart Week. For 5 days, we saw varying age groups of girls come to Murroe GAA Pitch for loads of fun and challenging camogie sessions. A fundamental skills session, introductory coaching and drills session, a ball wall session and an introduction to camogie for 4-7 year olds were among the activities of the week. The highlights of the week were the zorbing and the nutrition and mindfulness talk which both proved to be great successes. Our special thanks to Anne O’Connor for presenting the talk and also to all our coaches, parents and volunteers who trained sessions, helped organise drills and even took part. The week was a great success. Next weekend sees our U8s host a blitz at 11am in Murroe on Saturday while our U10s travel to Ballyagran to take part in their blitz. Both teams will play 3 matches on the day. Best of luck to all our girls!

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg wish to advise everyone about our upcoming tournaments on Sunday next 18th June in Harty Park Murroe. The day will begin at 10.00am with our U9’s competing for the Reale Cup, and this will be followed in the afternoon with our u11’s competing for the Rhona Kett Sheridan cup. Teams already confirmed for the tournaments are Ballina from Tipperary and St. Patrick’s, Ballyraggret from Kilkenny, with more teams to follow. BBQ food will be served as well as teas & Coffees, more details to follow in the coming weeks, please support.

Golden Jubilee Celebrations in Killinure N.S. The Board of Management of Killinure N.S. would like to extend an invitation to the Murroe-Boher community to join us on Saturday 10th June, from 2pm to 4pm as we celebrate fifty years of primary education. His Grace, Archbishop Kieran O’Reilly, will bless the school, officially open our new two-classroom extension and unveil a sculpture by local blacksmith Eric O’Neill at 2pm. Activities will kick off with the children’s fancy dress competition followed by children’s races and novelty races for children and adults. There will also be a number of sideshows. This year we are introducing a “Fittest Family Challenge”! Teams of 4 can enter for the event comprising 2 adults – one male and one female – and two children under 15 years of age. Coffee Morning for Cancer Research held on 6th May at Madaboy was a great success enjoyed by all who came.  There was great chat, mountains of delicious cakes and above all wonderful entertainment from the Yukealadies led by Sinead Dinneen.  A huge thanks to her and her fellow musicians, Denise, Rachel and Susan.  Indeed a huge thanks to all those who brought the delicious home-baked goodies, those who helped with serving it all and to everyone who came and gave so generously, in spite of other fundraising events.  Our goal was well surpassed and, with a generous donation from Mulcair Credit Union, the event raised €2,270.  This money has been distributed between the charity ‘Breakthrough Cancer Research’ in Cork and ‘The Irish Cancer Society’.

Boher Community Development Association is holding its Annual Charity Cycle on Saturday 3 June, in aid of Cliona’s Foundation in memory of Ciara McCarthy and The Jack and Gill Children’s Foundation, in memory of Rhona Kett Sheridan, commencing at 7pm at Boher Community Centre.  The full cycle loop is 40km for the experienced cyclist, but for the less practiced there are plenty of shortcut routes, which makes it suitable for all fitness levels and ages! There will be refreshments for all participants after the cycle. Entry fee for the cycle is a donation of your choice at registration. Registration for the event will start at 6.15pm. Map route can be viewed on Boher Facebook and www.murroe.net . Murroe-Boher Community Games:  Well done to everyone who took part in the Sports Day in Glenstal on Sunday, the 21st of May.  We had lots of winners on the day from the Under 5’s to the Under 14’s. The U 12 Madeline Hogg Cup was won by Gemma Ryan and Siobhan Cooke and Oisin Holmes won the Fr Peter Perpetual Shield.  We would like to thank everyone who helped out on the night, it is much appreciated. Thank you to the Credit Union and PJ Holmes at Gala for their kind sponsorship.

Milford Hospice Memorial Walk: The Milford Hospice 5km Memorial Walk will take place on Sunday, May 28th at the University of Limerick with a start time of 12.00 noon. This event is suitable for those of all levels of fitness and ability and the Centre’s organisers are asking anyone who wishes to take part to register for the event as soon as possible. There will be no entry fee, but the organisers are encouraging people to seek sponsorship for the lunchtime walk or else make a donation. The walk will commence at the University of Limerick Sports Arena and will finish on the grounds of Milford Care Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to place a hand-written tribute on colourful ribbon that will adorn the special memorial tree on the grounds of Milford. A special Memorial Pin will also be presented to each participant. Refreshments will be available after this memorial occasion. Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Well done to Sophie Quaid, Orlaith Hickey and Sarah Jane Flynn who represented the East in the Neville Cup in the Gaelic Grounds. The Neville Cup teams are amalgamations of primary schools in each part of Limerick. The girls were defeated in the semi-final by a strong team from the South. Well done girls. Murroe Darkness Into Light: Thanks to everyone who participated in any way on Saturday morning last. It was marvellous to have over 1150 walkers supporting Pieta House through the village and Glenstal. The organisation would not all have been possible without the 100+ locals who helped run the event and the sponsorship and support from our local businesses and clubs. Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Well done to our U16 team who brought the club’s league season to a close by winning our first piece of silverware for the year. The girls won the A Plate final in a great game by 2 points. Brilliant stuff girls. That ends our league campaign and championship won’t be taking place until early July. Trainings will continue for all ages groups and our U14 team are joining with Treaty Gaels for the championship so if any girls of that age are interested please get in contact.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Hard luck to our senior team who lost out to Bruff last weekend and now will compete in the intermediate league next year. Our U16 team played the league plate final on Friday evening against Kileedy. Well done to Caroline Hickey, Michelle Daly and Catherine McCormack who all took part in a very successful Strictly Come Dancing event last weekend. Well done to Ciara Walsh and her fellow organisers who organised an excellent community event. Well done also to everyone who took part in the Pieta House Darkness into Light walk on Saturday morning, it was a great success for a great cause. Well done to Anne O Connor and Ita Richardson and their fellow organisers for organising a great event.

Murroe Boher Ladies Gaelic Football: Best wishes to Kate Madigan and Limerick U14 Gaelic Footballers who take on Waterford in the Munster Final this Sunday at 3pm in Mallow, the team is managed by club coach Ken Beirne. Congrats to our Minor team who recently reached the County League “A” Final for the 2nd year in a row and to our u16s who are due to play their League final next week.
