Coffee Morning in aid of Breakthrough Cancer Research Cork and the Irish Cancer Society will be held on Saturday 6th May from 10.30 to 1.00. at Madaboy House, Abington (approx. 400m from Abington Enterprise Centre). Please consider supporting this worthy cause in an effort to fund innovative breakthrough therapies for many types of cancer. Enjoy the best of home baking and a musical surprise. Cappamore Development Association have in their generosity developed a beautiful garden at the back of the Community Centre. This is a great facility that can be used by the patrons of the Day Care centre and the patrons of St Vincent’s while they are here during the day in Cappamore. An open day and special blessing will take place on Monday 1st May (Bank Holiday Monday) at 2pm. Light refreshments served. Please come and see our beautiful facility. We would appreciate a good attendance.

Congratulations to local lad Paddy Kelly who received his first cap for Ireland playing with the Irish u 18 clubs and schools rugby squad over the Easter. They beat the English counties u 18 team in a 2-game series up in Ashbourne Co. Meath.

The Parents Council of Killinure National School would like to thank everyone who donated or helped in any way with their recent fund raising activities. Our Bag Pack in Dunnes Stores, Childers Road raised €1,320 and the 5k fun walk/run in memory of Rhona Kett Sheridan for the Jack and Jill Foundation, raised €3,720.

Murroe Marian Club will be celebrating 25 years in existence on Friday May 12th in Muintir na Tíre Hall at 7pm. Former committee members and members of the club are welcome to attend.

LIGHT UP FOR DARKNESS INTO LIGHT: It has been suggested that houses on the route of this year’s Darkness into Light walk would display some outside lights on this coming Saturday morning of May 6 at 4-15 am for a couple of hours. So, root out those Christmas lights and give them an early airing this year just for one important morning and it will add to the meaning and the ambience of the walk on the day. Also, don’t forget to donate to the relevant pages or set up your own page for the cause of Pieta House. Remember no cash is taken on the night and you may register on dil.pieta.ie, choosing Murroe as the venue, entering your details.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Best of luck to our senior team who play Bruff on Sunday morning at 11.30am in Meanus (Camogue Rovers GAA Pitch) in the Senior League, be sure to get out and support the girls. Well done to our U16 team who won their League Plate semi-final on Wednesday and are now in the final against Kileedy with fixture TBC. Training continues for all age groups and if new members are interested in becoming part of the club please don’t hesitate to contact a club member or our Facebook page where we keep fixtures updated.

Boher Community Development Association Team Limerick CleanUp – Over 80 people participated in the Boher Community CleanUp on Good Friday morning.  The Community Centre was a hive of activity from 8.30am. The cleanUp was completed in four hours with bags of litter gathered by our hard working community members and brought to Boher Community Centre for collection by Mr Binman.  It was a wonderful community event and a very successful occasion.  Sincere thank you to everybody involved.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Well done to Megan Kiely and Hazel Hourigan who were part of the Limerick U16 team who won the C Cup during the week, brilliant stuff girls! Hard luck to our U16 and senior teams who were both beaten in their league games during the week. The U16 team are now in the plate semi-final against Ballyagran/Newtownshandrum which is scheduled to take place during the week. The senior team lost out to Bruff and are now in a B semi-final which is scheduled to take place over the weekend, fixture TBC. Best of luck to all our girls in their games. Best of luck to Caroline Hickey who is taking to the dance floor next Saturday night in Strictly Come Dancing. This promises to be a great night so be sure to buy a ticket or support dancers by voting for them.

Murroe Boher Bord na nOg, held an Easter Camp on Monday 10th April to Wednesday 12th April in Harty Park, Murroe. We had up to 80 boys & girls playing games having fun each day. On Monday, we had a running coach, teaching the kids about agility, balance & coordination, we also had our own Seanie Tobin passing on some useful coaching tips. On Tuesday & Wednesday, we had Peter Casey, Ritchie English & Gearoid Hegarty from Limerick Senior team, giving out some useful tips and advice. They also signed jerseys, hurleys, helmets and gave Easter Eggs to all our happy campers. On Friday 14th & Saturday 15th April, we held our annual Easter bag pack in Dunnes Stores, in Childers Road. This was one of the most successful bag packs, with huge numbers of parents, coaches, family and friends of the Club giving up their time for this worthy cause. The total monies raised was €3,461.00, and the Club are very thankful to all who supported us.

Coffee Morning for Cancer: Reminder for your diary: Coffee Morning at Madaboy House will take place this year on Saturday 6th May from 10.30 to 1.00.  The focus of fundraising again is Cancer Research. Watch this space for future reminders closer to the date. This year will see the inclusion of a musical interlude to delight guests.

Murroe-Boher Historical Society: The last of our talks for this season will be hosted by Murroe-Boher Historical Society on Thursday, April 20, at 8.30 p.m. sharp at the Muintir na Tíre Hall, Murroe. The talk by Gráinne Keays is entitled, “The Frend Family of Lacrough House: The Story of a Boher Family.” Admission to non-member is €5 (includes refreshments). All welcome

Milford Hospice Memorial Walk: The Milford Hospice 5km Memorial Walk will take place on Sunday, May 28th at the University of Limerick with a start time of 12.00 noon. This event is suitable for those of all levels of fitness and ability and the Centre’s organisers are asking anyone who wishes to take part to register for the event as soon as possible. There will be no entry fee, but the organisers are encouraging people to seek sponsorship for the lunchtime walk or else make a donation. The walk will commence at the University of Limerick Sports Arena and will finish on the grounds of Milford Care Centre. Participants will have the opportunity to place a hand-written tribute on colourful ribbon that will adorn the special memorial tree on the grounds of Milford. A special Memorial Pin will also be presented to each participant. Refreshments will be available after this memorial occasion. Murroe-Boher Community Games: Murroe-Boher were well represented at the Limerick Community Games Cross-Country Finals at Mick Neville Park, Rathkeale on Saturday 8th April 2017, in glorious sunshine generally not associated with cross-country running! Well done to all who took part and congratulations to all our medallists. Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Best of luck to our U16 team who play Crecora at 6.30pm in Boher on Friday in their last group game of the league. Our senior team will be out on Monday with fixture TBC. Last Saturday saw the camogie club’s dog come in 3rd position in the Con and Annie Kirby Derby at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. This was a great night for all involved and our thanks to Limerick GAA for organising the event.

Murroe AFC: We are delighted to announce that the FAI summer soccer schools are now open for bookings Murroe AFC’s camp will take place this year from July 17th – July 21st. The camp is open to boys and girls between the ages of 6-14, each child will get a full playing kit, backpack, football and certificate of completion and the camp starts at 10.30am each day and finishes at 3pm. Cost of the camps are €65 per child with a €10 off family discount for brothers/sisters. Check out www.summersoccerschools.ie for more info

An Post has returned our post box in Boher.  We would encourage as many people as possible to use this facility.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Well done to our U16 team who defeated Bruff in the second round of the league on Thursday evening, next week they will take on Crecora at home. Best of luck to Niamh Richardson and the Limerick senior team who take on Cork in the Division 1 semi-final at 4pm in Pairc Ui Rinn on Sunday as they look to go a step further than last year. Hard luck to our senior team who lost out to Ahane in their first league game, it was a tough game and with a small and young panel our girls showed great fight throughout the game. Murroe-Boher Camogie have reached the final of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Puppy stake this Saturday night, 8th April, in the Limerick Greyhound stadium. Gates open from 6.30pm.

We are asking all members of the parish to come in on the night and support our dog “Coolavanny Pet”, who for qualifying for the final has given us a guaranteed €1,000, with a chance of winning between €3k – €10k depending where she finishes. If she wins Saturday night we will win €10,000 + a free fundraising night in the dog track for our club.

If attending, please wear the club colours to get in for half price, all kids go free.

Please spread the word to anyone you know, the more we can get there from the club the better.

Murroe Community Council is holding a Strictly Come Dancing extravaganza in the South Court Hotel, Raheen on Saturday April 29th. Murroe-Boher Community Games: Congratulations to Katie Bartley coming 4th place in the Art U10 Girls and Clara Noonan coming 3rd in the U12 Girls Art in the County Art Competitions.  Well done.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: This weekend sees our clubs competitive season kick off. On Friday evening our U16 team took to the field against Newcastle West in their opening round of the league. On Sunday at 11.30am our senior team play Ahane in the first game of their league campaign in Ahane. The Limerick senior team with Niamh Richardson played Galway in a top of the table clash on Saturday afternoon in Ballinasloe, both teams have qualified for semi-finals. Hard luck to the Limerick minor team with Edel Cunningham and Katie Heelan who were beaten in their last group game in the All Ireland series. The team failed to qualify for the knock out stages but will look forward to Munster championship in July. Well done to our girls who did the club proud. Next Friday our U16 team will line out again, this time away to Bruff. Keep an eye on our Facebook page for fixtures and results.

Pieta House Darkness into Light registration is now open at dil.pieta.ie.  You need to register on-line, selecting Murroe as your venue.  Please note you need a debit or credit card to pay for your registration.  Alternatively, we will be holding registration session over the next few weeks.

When you register, choose your t-shirt size (this is included in the registration fee).   On completion, you will be given an order number which you need to collect your t-shirt at t-shirt distribution.
First registration / t-shirt distribution session: Crokers on 4th April, 9-10pm. Further sessions will be notified via this web site.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Well done to the Limerick senior team and Niamh Richardson who beat Clare last weekend by a single point to qualify for the Division 1 semi-final. Next weekend they play Galway to decide who tops the group. This weekend sees the Limerick minor team with Edel Cunningham and Katie Heelan take on Wexford in their last group game at 2pm in Croagh. We urgently need parents and volunteers to help with the training of our underage teams. Without mentors or helpers our young girls would not be able to take the field and enjoy our sport. If you are or know anyone who might be interested in helping out, be that shouting encouragement or training a team please contact a member of our committee. No experience necessary and no help is too little.

A great night was had by all at the Killinure Parents Association Table Quiz on Friday night last, in Crokers Bar Murroe. It was well supported and a good deal of money was raised on behalf of the children of Killinure National School. The Parents Association would like to offer its appreciation to those in the community who came on the night, but also to those who donated spot prizes or sponsorship. Boher Community Alert Committee would like to highlight again the objective of the Seniors Alert Scheme, which came into effect in September 2015.  This scheme is to encourage community support for vulnerable older people in our communities through the provision of personal monitored alarms to enable older persons to continue to live securely in their homes with confidence, independence and peace of mind.  Anybody over the age of 65 years requiring a personal monitored alarm should apply either by phone or text to Michael Moore 087 9749105.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: This weekend sees the Limerick senior camogie team (with Niamh Richardson) travel to Clare for their third round of league at 2.30pm on Sunday in Clonlara. Last weekend the girls had a great win over Offaly by 3 points to keep them unbeaten in their league group. The Limerick minors (with Edel Cunningham and Katie Heelan) lost out to a strong Galway team last weekend in their third round of the championship. This Saturday (March 18th), Murroe/Boher Camogie Club’s dog, Coolavanny Pet, will run in the second round of the Con and Annie Kirby Memorial Puppy stake. Be sure to head to the race track for a night of fun and hopefully success! Next Saturday (25th March) our clothes collection will take place between 7.30 and 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse. This collection takes place the last Saturday of every month and as always, all donations are greatly appreciated.

Fatima Centenary: The Legion of Mary will be visiting the homes of the Parish with the Pilgrim Statue of our lady of Fatima. This is to celebrate the centenary year of the visitation at Fatima.

Table Quiz: We are holding a quiz night in aid of Shan Tynan on Friday March 24th at 8pm in Pa McGraths Boher. Shan Tynan made public headlines when she released a viral video in which she explains a rare form of cancer she is suffering from. Shan is undergoing treatment in Texas USA and under current government legislation she is not entitled to any government funding. people all over Ireland have been busy donating to her and her family to make sure she gets the care she deserves. Help us do our part from the Boher Community. Tables are only €20 with 4 people on a team. With the help of local sponsors, we also have fantastic spot prizes on the night. Amy and Michelle Lynch and Eimer Shinnors are organising the Table Quiz.

Many Thanks to those who contributes to last weekend’s collection in aid of Murroe/Boher Lourdes Fund. A total of €522 was raised.

Ballyhoura Development is currently recruiting for people to join the Rural Social Scheme. It is a 19.5 hour a week scheme. To be eligible you need to be actively farming one hectare of land, have an active herd number, and have a basic payment application. You also need to be in receipt of a means tested social welfare payment. A spouse, child or sibling of an active farmer who has a qualifying social welfare payment can also apply for the scheme. Murroe-Boher Community Games:  The County Finals Swim A competition was held last Sunday the 5th of March in Askeaton pool.  Well done to Heather Clancy who came 3rd in her heat. Two silver medals were won on the day with Rose Clancy coming in 2nd place in the U14 50m Butterfly final and Peter Ashe coming in 2nd place in the U10 25m Backstroke.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Last weekend’s first round of club league fixtures was postponed due to unplayable pitches. The game against Bruff will be rescheduled. This weekend sees the county minor and senior teams both play at home. The seniors, with Niamh Richardson, take on Offaly in Tournafulla at 2pm on Sunday while the minors, with Edel Cunningham and Katie Heelan, take on Galway in their third round in LIT at 2.30pm on Saturday. Be sure to support all our girls as they wear the Limerick jersey. U14 and U16 trainings have started back, if any girls around the parish would like to join please contact a member of the club. Galway at home in the third round of championship. Well done to Ciara Oliver, who during the week was named on the Limerick U13 development squad.
