The Irish Blood Transfusion Service will be holding a Blood Donor Clinic in the Community Centre, Caherconlish, on this Monday 13th February. Time: 5pm to 8pm.

Ever wanted to learn how to paint or take up a new hobby? Art classes resuming Thursday 23rd of February in Muintir na tire hall, Murroe from 7-9. €15 euro, some materials will be supplied but please bring your own brushes and acrylic paints (or oils if you have previous experience with them). Community First Responder, Boher are holding a training session for new volunteers at Boher Community Centre, at 9 am on Saturday, 18th February.  Duration 4 hours. Ballyhoura Development CLG has been awarded funding from the Department of Communications, Climate Action and Environment, to provide basic digital skills training to people under the Department’s new Digital Skills for Citizens Grant Scheme.  In a ‘connected’ society, digital skills for everyone are absolutely essential, in order to realise the full social and economic potential of the digital world. Helping individuals, communities and businesses acquire them is a priority of this scheme. The training aims to give people the confidence, motivation and skills to take their first steps online. Having digital skills can enrich the lives of people by giving them better access to information, culture, entertainment, social networking, eGovernment services, as well as online goods and services. Training is delivered over five two hour sessions and is FREE. Training will be available throughout the Ballyhoura area. Field Project Update: The Field Project is progressing well. We are now close to going for tender for the Astro Turf Pitch. It is planned to build both the Astro pitch and the walking track together. It is hoped that we will have contractors on site at the beginning of May and have this stage of the project completed in August.

Glenstal Abbey Retreat Day: Ageing Well Saturday 4th March. As we all live longer, can we age well? This workshop will reflect on the challenges of ageing. It will consider the need for a ritual of transition and whether there are spiritual practices suited to this stage of life. Murroe-Boher Community Games: Well done to all those taking part in indoor soccer, the Boys U10 Lions, U10 Tigers and U13 Girls Leopards.  The Boys U10 Lions came up against Caherdavin who were a formidable side and went down 9-1 while the U10 Tigers were very evenly matched against Castlemahon/Feohanagh and lost 5-4. There was a great turn-out for the County B Swim in Askeaton last Sunday and all enjoyed the event.  Congratulations to Peter Ashe who came 1st place in the U10 Backstroke; to Siobhan Cooke who came 2nd place in the U12 Freestyle and to the Murroe Primary School Swim Team who came 3rd place in the Mixed Relay.

 Murroe AFC: Soccer Sisters is an FAI programme, the aim of which is to introduce girls aged 7-12 to soccer. The programme will run in Murroe AFC for 6 weeks on Saturdays from 9-10am, commencing on Sat, 11 Feb and will be run by Barry McGann, FAI Development Officer. The program is free of charge. All participants will receive a Soccer Sisters jersey. Only equipment required is shin guards and sports shoes! The only thing parents are asked to do is to register players online at www.fai.ie/ssclubprog. All girls aged 7-12 are more than welcome to join us.

Murroe Boher Camogie Club: Next weekend sees this year’s camogie season kick off. The Limerick Senior team play in the first round of Division 1 at home to Meath on Saturday February 18th. Niamh Richardson is part of the Limerick team, we wish her and the team the best for the coming year and ask all supporters to support both club and county throughout the year at all age groups. There is no fixture for the game yet, however, we will keep our Facebook page updated or information can be found on the Camogie Association website.
