We especially welcome those who are interested in becoming CFR-Boher volunteers or are members of sports clubs, though this is not required. Cappamore Christmas Fair: Bilboa National School will hold its annual Christmas Fair on Sunday 18th November at 2pm in the Community Centre, Cappamore. Our Christmas Fair has always proven to be a very enjoyable day out with a huge variety of competitions and entertainment to suit all ages. There is something for everyone: Wheel of Fortune, visit Santa in his grotto, coats & handbags stalls, bric-a-brac, cakes, toys, books, games, competitions, children’s entertainment, tea & cake, a signed and framed Limerick Jersey raffled on the day and lots, lots more. All proceeds will go towards the development of the school.
Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: Hard luck to our minor camogie team who lost their county semi-final last weekend to a very strong Newcastle West team. This brings an end to the playing season for our club. We want to thank all our players, coaches and supporters over the past year and we look forward to next year and what promises to be another great season for the club. Our thanks to everyone who came to support our table quiz last Friday which was greatly supported by the whole community. November 12th will see our AGM take place at 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse. All members, supporters and players are asked to attend.
Murroe Boher Bord na nOg, held our annual Church gate collection last weekend, and we are delighted to announce that we collected €796.93, and we are very grateful for all those who contributed to this collection.
Murroe AFC Notes: Team News: A good weekend on the field again last weekend. The A team took on Castle Rovers in Fedamore once again, (in the league this time), and came out on top in a thriller on a scoreline of 4-3. the B team and the C team had no fixtures. No fixtures this weekend as the FAI Cup Final is on at the Aviva Stadium.
The annual Murroe AFC fundraising draw, in association with the FAI is on again. There’s a fantastic range of prizes for both the National and the Local draws as always. Tickets have just been released and are priced at €10 or a book of 5 for €50. Tickets are available from all coaches, players, and committee members from this weekend. The Local draw will take place on the 3rd November in the Valley Inn, with the National draw in the middle of November.
Murroe AFC’s book “Murroe AFC The First 50 Years 1968-2018”is still available to purchase at Spar, and English’s. The book is a fabulous record of the story of the first 50 years of soccer in Murroe and is available at a price of €15. Now that the nights are getting longer, and you’ll be settling in by the fire, you’ll need a good read!
Glenstal Woods Charity Walk – Sat 3rd Nov 11.00AM
Glenstal Woods Walk in loving memory of Kevin Hayes will take place next Saturday 3rd November at 11.00am. All funds raised will be donated to Heart House, the Mater Foundation. This is a 12k walk on forestry track and minor roadway. Walking boots recommended but may not be necessary depending on weather conditions. Parking in Murroe village and a shuttle service will take people to the start of the walk. Refreshments afterwards in the village hall. Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: Best of luck to our minor team who play in the A Championship semi-final on Saturday at 4pm in Dromcollogher against Newcastle West, this promises to be a great game. On November 12th we will hold our AGM at 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse, all members, players and parents are asked to attend. This Saturday (27th) our monthly clothes collection will take place from 7.30 – 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse, all donations greatly appreciated.

The A team took on Holycross in the FAI Junior Cup and were deserved 1-0 winners after a tight affair. the B team and the C team had no fixtures. This weekend its back to league action for the A team when they take on Castle Rovers in Fedamore on Sunday at 10:30am. The B team and C team have no fixtures. Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: We will be holding our fundraising TABLE QUIZ on Friday 26th October at 8pm in The Valley Inn, Murroe, tables of 4 for €20. Great prizes and a raffle on the night promise to be a great night out, please come out and support our club. On November 12th we will hold our AGM at 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse. All our members and players and parents are asked to attend to assist in the running of our club. Best of luck to our minors who play Galbally in their final group game on Saturday at 5pm in Boher. Next Saturday (27th) the girls will play in a semi-final with fixture TBC – keep an eye on our Facebook page for fixtures. Next Saturday (27th) will also see our monthly clothes collection take place from 7.30 – 8pm in Murroe Clubhouse, any spare clothes donations greatly appreciated.
Murroe AFC Notes: There was a great trip for the U-12 boys and girls to the Aviva Stadium last weekend, along with a few more older clients. The match wasn’t hectic, but a good day out was had by all. Congratulations to Gráinne Regan who received her Ireland cap from John Delaney at half time in the match.
The Murroe AFC annual soccer draw will take place this year in November at the Valley Inn Murroe. Again, this year we are promoting the FAI draw which will give each participant 3 chances to win. There will be a National Draw, a Munster draw and all tickets sold locally by Murroe AFC will be entered into a local draw also (similar to the Christmas draw) There is an incredible prize fund including 4 cars 1 for each province, holidays, trips to soccer games, X-Boxes, mobile phones, vouchers, match tickets and many more. In addition to this the club will run a local draw also where all tickets bought for the National/Regional draw will be entered again for a super prize fund. Please support this, our main fundraiser for 2018 Tickets are €10 each with books of 5 for €50. With 4 Cars, trips to Champions league final, IPADS, IPODS, Mobile Phones Weekends away and much much more it is the draw to be in this year. Tickets are available from players and committee members. Murroe-Boher Historical Society – It is that time of year again when we resume our winter talks. Our first speaker of this new season will be David McBurnie, who will discuss “Florence Barrington: A Year in Russia (1916-1917).” Like other young women of her age and class, Florence Barrington (of Clonkeen House and Clonshavoy) volunteered to serve as a nurse during the 1914-18 war. She travelled to Russia, where she worked in a field hospital on the Eastern Front. This talk centres on her work in difficult and challenging circumstances, drawing extensively on her diary, which gives a vivid, often humorous, account of the courage and commitment of a resourceful young woman in a time of war. The talk begins as 8.30 sharp on Thursday next, October 18. Admission – €5 to non-members. All welcome.
Murroe/Boher GAA and Camogie Clubs will hold a Fundraising cycle – Family 5k and longer 40k – on Sunday next 21st October, starting at Harty Park, Murroe. Registration at 10am. Please support.
Murroe/Boher Camogie Club: Last weekend our minor team received a walkover against Treaty Gaels, this puts them in a great position heading into their final group game next Saturday (20th October) at 4pm in Boher against Galbally. Be sure to get out and support our girls.
Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: The A team took on Aisling Annacotty in Annacotty last Sunday and it ended up 0-0. The B team continued on winning ways with a hard fought 3-2 win also against Aisling Annacotty, while the C team came out 2-1 winners in a tight game with Athlunkard Villa. Best of luck to our minor team who play their third round on Saturday at 5pm in Patrickswell. Last weekend saw our first hosting of an U11 blitz in memory of Johnny O’Brien. Teams from Newport, Cappamore and Treaty Gaels travelled to Boher for an exhibition of camogie with U7 and U9 games also taking place on the day. Well done to the victorious Newport team and thanks to all teams for travelling and to our own club mentors and parents who helped out on the day to ensure a smoothly run event, our thanks to all involved.
Murroe AFC Notes: Team news: The A team and C team didn’t have any fixtures last weekend. The B team took on Knockainey on Sunday last in Tubber and came out deserved winners on a 2-0 scoreline. Keep an eye on the club’s Facebook Page for up to date fixtures and results.
The U-7 Boys team is looking for a volunteer to coach/manage the team, (boys born in 2011), so if you’d like to get involved, email murroeafc@gmail.com or contact Chairperson Jimmy Quinn on 0872334561. All necessary training will be provided by the club.
The annual Murroe AFC fundraising draw, in association with the FAI is on again. There’s a fantastic range of prizes for both the National and the Local draws as always. Tickets have just been released and are priced at €10 or a book of 5 for €50. Tickets are available from all coaches, players, and committee members from this weekend. The Local draw will take place at the end of October with the National draw shortly afterwards.
Murroe AFC’s book “Murroe AFC The First 50 Years 1968-2018”is still available to purchase at Spar, and English’s. The book is a fabulous record of the story of the first 50 years of soccer in Murroe and is available at a price of €15. Now that the nights are getting longer, and you’ll be settling in by the fire, you’ll need a good read!
